Hexindo temperature tests completed.
Test Results.
Hexindo staff carried out a series of temperature tests on the
IndyKote ceramic coated manifolds fitted to one of KPC's Hitachi
hydraulic excavators located at Sangatta in East Kalimantan. The
excavator had been operating for several hours so engine and
manifold temperatures were at normal working temperature. The
engines were taken to full load and an infra-red temperature gun
was directed at No:2 exhaust manifold for a period of 2 minutes
from a distance of 1 metre.
Result: Exhaust
manifold surface temperature of 200 Deg C was recorded for the 2
minute period on the ceramic coated manifolds. This is BELOW the
flash point of hydraulic oil of 214 Deg C.
Should a
hydraulic hose burst and spray oil on the ceramic coated
manifolds, there will be no ignition of the oil at this
temperature. The result would be simply smoke, but no fire.
